Possbile frequencies to monitor are listed at the end of this article.The North American Aerospace Defense Command and its geographical component, the Continental United States NORAD Region (CONR), will conduct Exercise Falcon Virgo 08-01 from Tuesday through Thursday (October 23-25, 2007) in the National Capital Region (Washington, D.C.).This exercise comprises a series of training flights held in coordination with the Federal Aviation Administration, the National Capital Region Command Center, the Joint Air Defense Operations Center, Civil Air Patrol, and NORAD’s Northeast Air Defense Sector.Exercise Falcon Virgo 08-01 is designed to test NORAD’s intercept and identification operations, as well as procedural tests of the NCR Visual Warning System. Civil Air Patrol aircraft, Air Force F-16s and C-38s, and Coast Guard HH-65 Dolphin helicopters, will participate in the exercise. Several hundred representatives of multiple local agencies will take part in a homeland security exercise Sunday night in Winston-Salem.
The training exercise will involve a high volume of emergency reponse traffic around the Hanes Mall complex.

Tirana, Albania - Earlier today, an official opening ceremony held by NATO, Partnership for Peace and Mediterranean Nations officially launched two exercises called Cooperative Longbow 07 and Cooperative Lancer 07 (CO LW / CO LR 07) in Tirana, Albania.
Approximately 1,100 military personnel from Canada, Greece, Hungary, Turkey, the United Kingdom, the United States of America, Albania, Armenia, Austria, Azerbaijan, Belarus, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia*, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Moldova, Switzerland, Ukraine, Israel, Russia, Japan and the United Arab Emirates will take part in the two exercises from October 7 - 30, 2007. A week’s worth of planned disaster scenarios wrapped up early at the base after a peculiar mix of real and fake situations kept emergency crews busy on Tuesday, said Pat Wolcott, the emergency preparedness coordinator for the base. While emergency crews practiced responding to a potential attack on the base, a chemical spill and terrorists in the area — all fake — they had to respond to a real gas leak, a bomb scare, a disgruntled employee and radio complications.
“…Then disaster struck. During the exercise, base personnel located a gas leak, Wolcott said, and had to respond to it. The base also had a bomb scare during the exercise.” (cont..)
